It is I, back on the face of the planet after I dropped off it.
Anyway, remember how I said my next project is retooling blades in the dark for a pulp sci-fi setting? Lmao yeah I lied I embarked on a totally different project that has eaten all my time and creative energy. I'd apologize, but I'm not actually sorry.
Behold! 200+ hours of beading! I'm not even close to done, because every time I do get close I find a new thing to nitpick! :D (I'm in a hell of my own making. Please. Somebody save me.) On the upside I'm not only all caught up on s2 of critical role, but I've made solid inroads into the wheel of time.
Right now I'm working on adding a panel to the front so it sits more smoothly and doesn't choke the wearer; when completed, this is going to be part of a Vex'ahlia cosplay. I'm making the white dragonhide armor set, and this is slated to be the gorget. I've got some of that lovely reversible sequin fabric in gold and white that'll sit under this as scale mail, with a blue tabard over. The tabard will have to be dyed, as I can't find the right shade of blue-- they're all very nice blues, but in between the particular shade of blue and the texture of the fabric itself, none of them
feel like they could have been made in a pre-industrial setting, you know? And yes, I am aware of the irony of complaining that the fabric isn't medieval enough when I'm using sequins and seed beads, and also this is a world where magic exists. We all have our foibles.
No matter what I end up doing for the fabric, though, I do know I'm going to embroider it to hell and back, as I am filled with equal parts self loathing and ambition.
